FROM MY DESK

Hello Winter!  Beautiful sunny days but very chilly. Hope you are all keeping warm. Back into lockdown due to a highly infectious variant of Covid-19.  Now lifted… What a relief!

We welcomed four new members: Besy, Claire, Karen and Nelia.

The walking/brunch group was relaunched by Carers Vic and started in May to be held on the 3rd Tuesday of the month. Some members attended the first one last month and enjoyed walking in Werribee Park and having brunch after at Social,

Sutra Café in Watton Street.

The 2-day coach tour to Castlemaine, MaldonDaylesford and Trentham was enjoyed by 18 carers. Great opportunity to mingle and meet new carers. Thanks Carers Victoria for this overnight respite!

Breathtaking Trentham Falls

Wonderful 2-day tour which started in Castlemaine, through to Maldon, Daylesford and ended in Trentham.

John, our coach driver was very pleasant, knowledgeable about the gold rush days and flexible. Saw amazing goldfield towns and heard from Ray, a dedicated historian and volunteer in Maldon – very witty and wise. The overnight accommodation in Hepburn Springs was comfortable and clean with continental breakfast and enjoyed both lunches in Maldon and Trentham. The train ride from Castlemaine to Maldon was first class and delightful. Mena and Priscilla kept us entertained with Trivia and Raffles (lots of prizes). The tour of the Convent in Daylesford was interesting and we heard from Tina, tour

guide of the Gallery who gave us the history from its origins during the gold rush – purchased and renovated by her 30 years ago.

The Hepburn Springs Bathhouse and Spa was a great wellness experience with deep soaking in minerals and the spa pool to stimulate circulation. The falls at Trentham were breathtaking.

Half an hour before the start of the morning, an employee calls his supervisor to say he won’t be coming in today. Employee: “I’m having a vision problem.” Supervisor: “Sounds bad. What’s wrong?” Employee: “I just can’t see myself at work today.”

In addition to comforting, you can help in another way, too – by listening. …….Robbie Miller Kaplan
