FROM MY DESK
(looking out the window)
Officially Autumn is here!! although Melbourne’s weather is still sunny and warm.
I bet everyone is happy and relieved that we are now out of lockdown and have the option of the coronavirus vaccine.
Also a month to go for the Easter Bunny to arrive.
HOP, HOP, HIPPITY HOP!
This meeting will be held on Tuesday, 9th March 12.30pm At the Eco-Living Centre, 28 Ridge Drv. Wyndham Vale. This will give us an opportunity to discuss our experience with the Gateway and Carers Vic. in accessing the support we need as carers.
It has been a slow start for having Trivia and the monthly meetings.
These have been put forward due to scheduling an important meeting with Carers Victoria. The meeting with Sue Peden, A/CEO and Michael Stanley, Senior Manager, Community Engagement. Anita from Carers Gateway will be joining us.
The End of Year Christmas Lunch was enjoyed by all and it was a great way of socialing and saying goodbye to 2020 (a year that was full of uncertainly and undefinable)
LOOKING FORWARD TO: 2021. ALREADY INTO THE 3RD MONTH!
Release of Royal Commission into Victoria’s
Mental Health System:
The long awaited final report was tabled in Parliament prior to a joint sitting of Victorian Parliament on March 2nd and was live streamed via the Victorian Parliament website.
Premier Daniel Andrews stated:
“We’re facing a watershed moment in Victoria’s history. This report will change lives, and it’ll save lives. The thousands of Victorian’s who have so bravely and so generously shared their personal stories deserve our full, undivided attention and help.”
I feel we all echo the words of Tandem CEO Marie Piu who said:
“This is a watershed moment for Victorian family and friends in mental health. Tandem is hopeful that the release of this final report will lead to safe, inclusive, fair and well-funded mental health services responding to all Victorian’s, and the family and friends supporting and walking alongside them in their mental health journey“.
COVID-19 Mental Health Care Packages:

“I can only note that the past is beautiful because one never realises an emotion at the time. It expands later, and thus we don’t have complete emotions about the present, only about the past.”
